to Make a Difference?
The Walk A Mile route.
Wayside Cross Ministries is planning its seventh annual winter walk, Feb. 9, 2013, one mile in length, to help at-risk youth and the ministry’s transitional living center for homeless women and children. Walk proceeds will benefit Lifespring Center & Urban Youth Ministry of Wayside Cross Ministries. The walk will begin at 9 a.m. (8:30 a.m. onsite registration) from the East Aurora Magnet School, Root Street & College Avenue.
Who can walk?
The Walk a Mile in My Shoes is for anyone who wants to serve the local community. Recruit friends, a small group, and colleagues, or simply sign up to join other walkers.
Walking the Walk
Being a walker raising pledges or walker-sponsor(pledge to a walker) or just donating for Walk a Mile in My Shoes 2013 will make you a part of the most exciting process you could imagine. You can help to stop the downward spiral and turn the lives of homeless women in a positive direction. You can provide frightened children with a stable nurturing environment for growth.
Based on actual requests for shelter, we have seen an alarming increase in the number of homeless women and children over the past seven years. Wayside Cross Ministries has stepped up to meet the need through a 64 bed shelter called Lifespring. Going above and beyond safe shelter and nutritious meals, Lifespring has long term programs that address the underlying causes of homelessness such as substance abuse, incomplete education and inadequate life skills. Lifespring offers homeless women an opportunity to become God reliant, self supporting and make a positive contribution to our community.
